This is a follow-up on the basic workshop and leads into a variety of light shapers and their influence on the subject, dealing specifically with portraits and people imaging.
We begin by covering the basics of lighting, the various styles of lighting using specular light, diffused light and appropriate photo lighting equipment, understanding light fall-off and light feathering, combining a variety of techniques to create memorable images.
You’ll have ample time to work on the studio lighting techniques being taught.
- Using a light meter for comprehensive understanding and control of light to manage correct and predictable exposure and contrast dynamics.
- Lighting equipment and equipment setup.
- Studio safety.
- Start with a single light and build on it to multiple lights.
- Light modifiers, including umbrellas, soft boxes, reflectors, gobos, flags, snoots, barn doors, and much more.
- Defining facial features with light and shadow.
- Gain confidence in your ability to bring out the best in your client/subject.
- Soft and hard lighting
- Backgrounds and props for studio lighting.
We’ll also provide guidance, including buying advice and tips if you don’t have your own lights just yet.
We will be working with a professional model.
